Throughout the summer, Steamboat blooms with activity from Lincoln Avenue to the mountain base and beyond. Get up here and experience Colorado’s most authentic mountain towns.

Summer Activities

Comfortably warm days and cool nights make outdoor recreation in Steamboat a delight in summer.

Golfers love Steamboat Springs. The Haymaker Golf Course, magnificently situated in the beautiful Yampa Valley, is a links-style course featuring broad fairways, native grasses, natural wetlands areas, and several water hazards, including two lakes. The undulating Rollingstone Ranch Golf Course is a 6,906-yard championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Famed for its majestic mountain vistas, the course is also known for challenging Fish Creek Canyon, site of the back nine holes.

Golf is only the beginning. The Yampa River transports kayakers, rafters and canoers through town on class II and III rapids. Thousands of acres of alpine adventures beckon outside the Club. Steamboat’s trail system offers mile after mile of recreation for runners, walkers, and mountain and road bikers. Come fall, visitors drive and hike through aspen and oak forests ablaze with autumn colors.

Winter Activities

Fondly nicknamed “Ski Town, USA,” Steamboat Springs has trained and sent 79 skiers to the Winter Olympics, more than other place in the country. This remarkable heritage echoes in the ski resort’s world-class character: 3,000 acres of terrain, 3,668 feet of vertical drop, and 165 trails offering thrills for all levels. Consistently ranked one of North America’s top mountain resorts, Steamboat is famed for its dry, “champagne” powder and wealth of tree skiing.

In addition to downhill skiing, visitors to Steamboat enjoy Nordic skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and powder-cat skiing. The Annual Cowboy Downhill and week-long Winter Carnival are just two of the town’s celebrated ski-season events. Year-round, this ranching- town-turned-ski town is justifiably acclaimed for its shopping and 60-plus restaurants and bars.
